Potato gratin with apples and bacon

Potato gratin with apples and bacon


cumin – 1 tsp
bacon – 150 g
salt – to taste
apples – 3 PCs.
onions – 2 PCs.
cream fat content of 22% – 250 ml
potatoes – 700 g
grated cheddar cheese – 150 g
butter – 2 tbsp
lemon juice – 1 tbsp
grainy mustard – 2 tbsp


Peel the potatoes, cut them into circles and put in a pot with cold salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until soft, 5 min. to Drain.

Clean apples, remove the seeds, flesh cut into circles. Sprinkle with lemon juice. In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp butter and fry the apples for 1 min on each side. Transfer to a bowl.

Bacon cut into thin strips. In the same pan, where was preparing the apples, fry the bacon on both sides for 5 min. Let cool on paper towels, then cut each strip into 3-4 pieces.

Heat cream over low heat. Add cheese, mustard, salt, pepper and cumin. Stir well.

Onions clean, cut into thin half-rings. Melt in a pan the remaining oil and fry the onion, 6-7 min.

Preheat the oven to 200 °C. place into a greased refractory form circles of potatoes and apples, bacon and fried onions. Pour creamy mixture, close the top with foil and bake 35 minutes Then remove the foil and return to oven for another 15 min.

Before serving you can sprinkle the casserole with fresh herbs.
