Chocolate churros

Churros is a very popular Spanish treat. It is usually eaten for Breakfast or an afternoon snack, dipped in hot chocolate. In Madrid and in other Spanish cities, churros are sold almost on every corner. However, many Spaniards prefer to cook them at home, especially as it does not take much time.


vegetable oil for deep frying
grated orange peel – 2 tbsp
egg – 2 PCs.
salt – 1 tsp
butter – 125 g
cocoa powder – 1 tbsp
flour – 250 g
sugar – 100 g
vanilla sugar – 1 tsp
For dusting:

ground cinnamon – 1 tsp.
sugar powder – 3 tbsp


Dilute in a saucepan with 250 ml of hot water butter, add salt, and orange zest, bring to a boil. Sift into a saucepan the flour with cocoa powder and vanilla sugar.

Pour the hot mixture, put on medium heat and rapidly stir with a wooden spoon for 1 min Remove from heat.

One to drive in the dough eggs, stirring each time. Place the dough in a pastry bag with a wide nozzle in the form of a star.

Much in the frying pan, vegetable oil, squeeze the dough out of the bag strips approximately 10 cm to Cook for 4 minutes on each side.

Put the churros with a slotted spoon to paper towels.

Mix the icing sugar and cinnamon dusted churros.

* Don’t squeeze a lot of test strips, they must be in the oil quite freely.
